From Despair to Repair: My Battle Against Lupus


When my doctor gave me a prognosis of "at best" 5 to 7 years, I was in shock and felt a deep sense of despair. Despite the overwhelming hopelessness, I refused to accept that I was going to die in my twenties. My doctor offered me medication, physical therapy, and a support group—none of which would help me to thrive.


My only choice was to figure out how to heal myself. Healing myself was an exhausting decade-long battle filled with countless trials, errors, and setbacks, followed by healing. My journey wasn't about denying I had lupus but about harnessing my inner strength to heal from it.


I embraced the belief in my ability to heal myself and committed myself passionately to nurturing that belief every single day. I was relentless and desperate, determined to find a way to extend my life against all odds. My journey with lupus has taught me resilience, not resignation. Here I am, almost forty years later, sharing my story with you.
